May 6th and May 13th, 2021

Harvest Seasonal Kitchen hosted another pair of sold-out Suppers with a Cause in support of McKinney Roots! The seasonal spring menu was curated by Chef Andrea with the best offerings from our local farms, paired with wines and seasonal cocktails to make for a perfect evening.

The beautiful table flowers were grown at Water Boy Farms by farm director Jennifer Spring. She organically grows and harvests the flowers several times a week, bringing them into the restaurant and arranging them into vases and displays.

Farmer Tuck gave the guests an update on the farm, including the one we are most excited about; our chickens are producing thirteen dozen eggs every single day! These are distributed across our community nonprofit partners on a weekly or biweekly basis. Our current partners include the Samaritan Inn, Community Lifeline Center, McKinney Little Free Pantry, and The McKinney First Baptist Church.

The first produce of the season is rolling off the farm too! Onions, radishes, and kale were distributed to our nonprofit partners this week too. We’ve had an unusually wet and cool May, which has slowed the garden down significantly. Here’s hoping we dry out soon and production conditions improve for the summer!
