North Texas Farm to Table Symposium | Megan Neubauer

Megan Neubauer served as our guest speaker at our Winter Farm to Table Symposium held on February 20th, 2024. The Grand Ballroom at Rick’s Chophouse was filled with farmers, ranchers, farming advocates, and supporters of Megan, eager to champion her during her recent book launch, "Pick-Your-Own Farming."

Embracing Change

During Megan’s presentation, she addressed the challenges encountered by numerous small farmers striving to sustain themselves by solely selling produce at their local farmers market. Operating a small farm named Pure Land Farm in McKinney alongside her father, she illustrated how their venture into agritourism has positively impacted the local community, environment, and income.

Farewell Farmers Market

Agritourism serves as a vital conduit for reconnecting the public with agriculture through enjoyable, sensory experiences on farms. Pure Land is a place where the entire family can get their hands dirty.

Welcome Pick-Your-Own Farming

In her book, Megan offers invaluable insights for small farms seeking profitability through agritourism. She stresses the importance of an informed and engaged population of agritourists in driving demand for superior products, thereby fostering the growth of small farms.

Repair Our Soil | Restore Our Environment

Megan also highlighted the significance of embracing regenerative agriculture practices to combat climate change, soil depletion, and biodiversity loss.

Megan hopes this shift will also influence governmental policies to support regenerative practices over large-scale industrial agriculture operations.
