Summer Supper with a Cause 2019: Webb Elementary School

June 27, 2019

Webb Elementary School is a Title I school and home to nearly 400 students in grades K-5 on McKinney’s east side. Nearly three quarters of the students enrolled are on free or reduced lunch programs. On top of these students, Webb is the home campus for McKinney’s Gifted and Talented program ALPHA program we well, adding another 450 students transported to campus each week for classes.

Despite so many students, Webb has never had a school garden. A group of parents, teachers, and administrators banded together to design and construct an all-new garden in the middle of campus, with the goal of helping students understand where their food comes from and build healthy eating habits early on. At our Summer Supper with a Cause, Stacy and David Apple, parents to three Webb students and organizers of the project, enthusiastically thanked attendees and unveiled their extensive garden curriculum.

The menu was a celebration of our abundant Texas summer produce season.

You can help us build a garden in every school by making a donation today.
