Gala in the Garden

October 16th, 2021

We held our second ever Gala in the Garden on October 16th. The day was just beautiful, low 70s and sunny! The garden at Water Boy Farm has never looked better, thanks to Farm Director Jennifer Spring’s careful planning and months of work.

Guests were encouraged to walk through the rows of vegetables and flowers, all destined for the kitchens and tabletops at Harvest and Rick’s Chophouse. Our friends at Patina Green Home and Market and Profound Foods volunteered to serve up fabulous dishes alongside our own Emily Lopez from Rick’s. Tucked into the garden was Zephyr Gin serving up a Bees Knees cocktail with Kim Townsend, Water Boy’s beekeeping advisor.

Strolling through the paddock, guests explored our silent auction table and sampled tastings from local winery Eden Hill and Blur hard seltzer from our friends at Tupps. In the barnyard, Buzz Andrews cranked up the music while Chef Drea from Harvest carved her roast pig from N & P Farm and Dairy. Sazerac and Deep Eddy kept the party going with cocktails, and La Casita Bakeshop served their fabulous brown butter apple tart for dessert.

The live auction was led by Matt Hamilton of Local Yocal, and after a year stuck at home, the trips up for bid were very popular! Congratulations to all our winners, and we’re so grateful for your support of the Seed Project Foundation. With your help, we raised almost $200,000 to support sustainable initiatives in our community.

Thank you to all of our sponsors, donors, volunteers, staff, and thank you Mattie Lewis for the beautiful photography. Our next events will be Winter Supper with a Cause in February 2022, and then the big one – the Rick’s Chophouse 15-year anniversary party on April 26! Mark your calendars!
