The power of education to improve lives cannot be understated. We believe we can educate our children out of poverty and into becoming stewards of the land we are borrowing from them. Grant programs include:
- School garden construction and improvement
- Future Farmers of America (FFA) student sponsorship and program development
Growing it Forward
Agriculture is the backbone of our communities. We believe that supporting a robust local food economy is critical to achieving environmental sustainability. No farms, no food.
We host a series of Farm to Table Symposiums every year to connect farmers and ranchers with chefs and local food advocates in our area. The 2020 Symposium dates will be released in October.
The Farm Crisis Fund (FCF) was started to help our local farmers and ranchers in times of natural disaster and economic crisis. The mission of the FCF is to keep our farmers in business through a crisis. Aid is available to the following North Texas counties: Collin, Grayson, Hunt, Fannin, Denton, and Cooke.
SHARING THE HARVEST
In a sustainable community, all members have access to food and care. We believe that we all rise by lifting others, and are proud to support initiatives that share this vision.
Community Garden Kitchen is currently in their capital campaign raising funds to build a facility for serving nutritious meals to anyone in need; no paperwork, no questions asked. Another community grantee is Family Health Center, a nearby clinic that provides care on a sliding scale regardless of insurance status.
